Power Plate Training

How Does it Work?
When training or rehabbing the body, one must apply a force to the body for it to resist, this is what encourages growth and strength.
All “old school” training methods consist of applying a greater load to the body… ie weights, medicine balls and/or resistance bands etc. The application of more weight (or mass) increases the force applied to the body which in turn responds by increasing muscle mass and bone mineral density in order to better resist the force.
The down side to this antiquated method, beyond being hard if not grueling, is that the increased loading of joints tendons and ligaments also increases the risk of injuring or reinjuring these structures.
The leap forward to Acceleration Training is credited to astrophysicists deciding to workout smarter not harder. While searching for ways of keeping man in space (a 0 gravity, low force environment) for longer periods of time, these brilliant minds realized that by applying their knowledge of Newton’s second law they could change the face of strength training and rehab for ever.
To refresh our memories… Newton’s second law states that Force = Mass x Acceleration.
Power Plates platforms oscillate between 25 and 50 times per second transmitting waves of accelerated energy at therapeutic frequencies throughout the body. While standing on a Power Plates one is almost imperceptibly moving in all three planes of motion (up/down, forward/backward and left/right) at incredible rates of acceleration.
These gentle and relaxing waves of energy trigger 25-50 muscle reflexes per second, enhancing any exercise performed on the plate and minimizing the risk of injury.
